AU Background:
- Born and raised in the states, lived with his parents until they died in a car accident when he was 8 years old.
- After losing his parents, he was taken in by his only surviving family member, Uncle Ben. Was bullied during most of his school life and kept to himself, but became close friends with Keith during middle school.
- Uncle Ben marries Keiko, a temporary professor teaching East Asian Literature, when Peter is 16; they move to Japan so that Keiko can take care of her family and Peter reunites with Keith.
- Peter isn't Spider Man in this au, which means that he's less prone to jumping into dangerous situations like his canon version. He still has a very strong moral compass, and while he tries to be more careful here, he doesn't hesitate to push back against any form of bullying or unfairness. Peter still very much advocates for the little guy even without his canon abilities.
- Dedication and responsibility are traits that have been instilled in him since before his parents died. Peter understands the importance of hard work and making the most of what he has; he's strict with his money and takes on part-time jobs whenever he can to help his uncle out. It's also given him the bad habit of keeping his problems to himself, only because he doesn't want to burden others with his troubles.
- Though he may be a little less comfortable in social situations, Peter thrives when he's around his friends or others he's close to. He genuinely wants the best for the people in his life and he'd do whatever he can to help, even at his own expense.
